Why Volunteer on Camp

Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and valued. At Royal Family Kids Camp Mogale, we create life-changing experiences for children who have faced abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

By volunteering, you become a beacon of hope — offering unconditional love, play, mentorship, and the message of God's love that can transform a child's life forever. Many volunteers say it's the most meaningful week of their year.

Camp Counsellors

Each counsellor is paired 2-to-1 with children to provide mentorship, encouragement, fun, and consistent care throughout the 5-day camp. We are seeking 20 counsellors (10 male & 10 female) to serve 40 children.

Assistant Counsellors

Assistant counsellors support the lead counsellor and help care for their two children, ensuring every child feels safe, seen, and supported. We need 20 assistant counsellors (10 male and 10 female).

General Staff

General staff keep camp running smoothly behind the scenes. Roles include setup, activities, Bible club and drama, photography, sound and lighting, nursing, and child support. We’re seeking 50–60 volunteers.

Backup Volunteers

Backup volunteers are on standby to assist where needed, stepping in to ensure every child continues to feel safe, supported, and cared for during camp.

Helping you to Understand the Basics and Benefits

Royal Family Kids Camp Mogale is a Christ-centred camp dedicated to children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment. We provide a safe, loving, and nurturing environment where children can experience care, joy, and the message of God's unfailing love.

Our camp is designed for children in foster care or children's homes who may have faced difficult circumstances. Many of these children have never experienced consistent love, affection, or a sense of belonging, and our camp provides them with a supportive, family-like environment.

During the 5-day school holiday camp, children participate in fun, structured activities such as games, crafts, outdoor adventures, mentorship, and storytelling. Each activity is designed to build self-esteem, foster friendships, and create lasting memories, all while helping children experience God's love.

The camp is staffed with trained volunteer counsellors, and we maintain a 2-to-1 child-to-counsellor ratio. Our "Two-Deep Rule" ensures that two adults are always present with a child, creating a safe environment. Visit our involved page to learn more about volunteering.

Yes. All activities and mentorship at camp are Christ-centred. Children learn about the love of God, what a Godly family looks like, and that they are part of the eternal Royal Family—precious, chosen, loved, and destined for His kingdom.

Royal Family Kids has been operating globally since 1985. We started as a simple camp in the US and quickly grew into a global movement. Children across the country have experienced hope, healing, and restoration through the camps.

There are many ways to make a difference:

  • Pray with Us - Pray for guidance and protection for the children who need God's protection and guidance.
  • Volunteer on Camp - Spend five unforgettable days mentoring, playing, and showing God's unconditional love to children.
  • Sponsor a Child or Meal - Provide nourishment, joy, and belonging through sponsorship.
  • Donate Items from Our Needs List - Gifts such as clothing, school supplies, and camp essentials make a direct impact on a child's experience.

Our approach is deeply personal and intentional. We focus on building trust, providing supportive relationships, and creating an environment where children feel valued. For many children, camp is the first time they experience consistent care and attention, and it can profoundly influence their lives and relationships.
